18 people died in road accidents throughout Ohio during Independence Day vacation travel period. 

According to preliminary data given by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Monday, 18 people died in road accidents throughout Ohio during the Independence Day vacation travel period.  On Thursday, July 2, the Fourth of July reporting period started at 12 a.m. and ended at 11:59 p.m. July 5, Sunday.  According to OSHP’s crash dashboard, the patrol reported 18 fatalities in 18 different crashes over the course of the four-day vacation, two of which occurred in northwest Ohio. The death toll is almost twice as high as it was over the previous Fourth of July weekend.
