68% of Ohio fourth graders and 68% of Ohio eighth graders lack reading and math proficiency.

According to the most recent Annie E. Casey Foundation Kids Count Data Book, 68% of Ohio fourth graders and 68% of Ohio eighth graders lacked reading and math proficiency, despite Ohio’s overall position of 12th.  According to the report, the proportion of Ohio students who are not proficient in arithmetic has climbed by 6% since 2019, while the percentage of Ohio students who are not proficient in reading has increased by 4% since 2019.
