During 2026 fiscal year, the amount of Ohio unclaimed monies handed out almost tripled.

The Ohio Department of Commerce reports that during the 2026 fiscal year, the amount of Ohio unclaimed monies handed out almost tripled. This follows the governor’s and lawmakers’ decision to use the money to finance sports stadiums in Ohio.  According to Ohio Department of Commerce Spokesperson Reagan Reetz, 884,912 claims totaling $746.50 million were submitted during the 2026 fiscal year.
