One of the oldest Asian small-clawed otters at the Columbus Zoo has passed away.

One of the oldest Asian small-clawed otters at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has passed away.  Gus was nearly eighteen years old, which exceeded the usual life expectancy of 14.7 years for males of his species kept in captivity, according to the zoo.  He assisted in teaching staff and other zoological organizations how to care for elderly Asian small-clawed otters as he became older and his care adjusted to handle age-related difficulties.
