44% to give a gift card this holiday season.

According to the National Retail Federation’s 2024 Holiday Consumer Survey, about 44% of people plan to give a gift card this year. For those planning to give a gift card, the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Financial Institutions (DFI) reminds you to take steps to protect yourself from scams, which are becoming more common.  Last year alone, Americans lost nearly $217 million to gift card scams, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
