Donnie Darrell Vent, Sr., age 85, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 25, 2016, at his home. He was an owner/operator truck driver and also drove for Arrow Tru-Line. He served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer from 1948-1949. Mr. Vent was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman, a member of Suburban Golf Course and a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233. He loved to travel with his wife and they traveled to 25 countries and took many cruises. His greatest joy in life was his family. He doted on his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If they needed anything, he was there for them.
Donnie Darrell Vent, Sr. was born on January 10, 1931, in Deering, Missouri, the son of James R. and Maude (Appleton) Vent. He married Margie Hampton on November 5, 1955, in Hernando, Missouri, and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Dewayne (Laurie) Vent, of Bryan; daughter, Cynthia (Scott) Richardson, of Bryan; grandchildren, Josh (Kim) Vent, of Bryan, Jeremy (Hailey) Vent, of Exton, Pennsylvania, Shanna (Ben) Herson, of Portage, Michigan, and Shela (Heath) Gotshall, of Bryan; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Nelson, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donnie D. Vent, Jr., four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation for Donnie Darrell Vent, Sr. will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 29, 2016. Burial will follow at Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan, with grave side military rites accorded by the Bryan VFW Post #2489.
