Evelyn A. Stutler, age 92, of Edon, Ohio, died at 3:06 A.M. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, Ohio, where she was a resident. Evelyn served the Lord all her life and was a devoted minister’s wife, following her husband, who was a minister with the United Methodist Church in the West Ohio Conference for over forty years. She was a member of the Edon United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women, and she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She guided her daughters with loving hands and was a grandmother whose sweet gentle spirit filled her home with love and the scent of fresh home-made bread.
Evelyn A. Stutler was born on May 28, 1923, in Leachtown, West Virginia, the daughter of George Edmond and Mrytle Ellen (Buckner) Freed. She married Reverend Jack D. Stutler on February 28, 1942, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and he preceded her in death on February19, 2001.
Survivors include four daughters, Vesta (Steven) Warthman, of Fairborn, Ohio, Patricia (Jerry) Sinkler, of Sebring, Florida, Rebecca (Lawrence) Curtis, of Angola, Indiana, and Valda Lee (John) Colbart, of Edon, six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna Lou Stutler; one son, Johnny Dale Stutler; two sisters, Louise Lowers and Marjorie States; and three brothers, her twin, Everett, Marvin and Ronald Freed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016, from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon. Services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edon United Methodist Church with Pastor David Miller officiating. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., in the church. Interment will follow in the Edon Cemetery.
