Defiance city voters will decide on whether to implement an additional 0.3 percent income tax for police and fire services in the November elections.
Following a second reading on Tuesday, Defiance City Council suspended the rules and approved an ordinance levying the increase and a resolution placing the issue before voters this fall.
If approved, the tax would generate almost one and a half million dollars annually which would then be earmarked exclusively for police and fire services. If voted in, the levy would be used for the police and fire budgets only.
