The Paulding County Fairgrounds may soon have some new barns.
Work is underway to replace the barns that house the poultry, sheep, goats and swine. An anonymous $100,000 matching donation has been given toward the $250,000 project which will really help the efforts.
The three buildings will each be gaining hundreds of square feet under current plans. The current barns total 14,150 square feet. Currently, one barn houses poultry, while another structure houses the hogs, sheep and goats on the grounds. The new barns will be 1,400 square feet larger than the existing buildings.
The original goal was to have them for the fair in 2015, but with the upfront donation, that has jump-started things. The old barns are about 140 years old.
