Patsy R. Hay, 90, of Edon, Ohio, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, Ohio, after a brief illness. Pat was born on February 11, 1926, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of William Earl and Myrtle Agnes (Schaffer) Armstrong.
She married Harry Robert Hay on February 24, 1951, in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death at the age of 42, on September, 13, 1965. She is survived by her six children, Robert (Connie) Hay, of Buchanan, Michigan, John (Edna) Hay, of Idaville, Indiana, James (Debbie) Hay, of Lowell, Michigan, Douglas (Tracey) Hay, of Tallahassee, Florida, Susan R. (Jeffrey) Dhaenens, of Bryan, and Steven (Janna) Hay, of West Unity, Ohio.
She also leaves sixteen grandchildren, Andrea Thompson, Adam Hay, Sarah Dhaenens-Utley, Tiffanee Butler, Miles Dhaenens, Michael Hay, Courtney Karadeniz, Seth Hay, Jared Hay, Erin Wolff, Megan Becknell, Kelly Rosselit, Philip Hay, Leslie Campbell, Josiah Dhaenens and Nathan Hay, and twenty great-grandchildren. She also leaves precious nieces, nephews and cousins, along with a special friend, Raymond Moore.
She has one surviving sister, Shirley Tibbs, of Angola, Indiana.
Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by seven siblings, Glenna Derringer, Bill Armstrong, Earl Armstrong, Gene Armstrong, Larry Armstrong, Eileen Armstrong, and Linda Welmer; two sisters-in-law, Jenny Armstrong and Evelyn Armstrong; and one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hay.
Pat was a member of the Church of the Nazarene since 1944 and served in many capacities. She attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, and BGSU, where she attained a B.S. degree in Education. She taught for twenty-five years in the Edon Northwest School District and loved almost every minute of it.
She did not want to leave a list of things she did but rather a legacy of loving memories of a devoted wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, as well as a loving friend and a caring teacher.
Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio, on Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in the Columbia Church of Christ, Columbia, Ohio, with visitation for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M.
