Mary L. Luke, age 70, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 7:36 P.M. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. Mrs. Luke was a 1964 graduate of Stryker High School and worked as a lead person at Sauder Woodworking, retiring with twenty-three years of service. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a member of the Stryker United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing.
Mary L. Luke was born on May 6, 1946, near Hicksville, Ohio, the daughter of Forrest Delmar and Mable (Kieffer) Franks. She married Denver L. “Spike” Schelling on June 13, 1964, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1986. She then married Robert W. Luke on June 22, 1996, in Angola, Indiana, and he survives.
Survivors also include her children, Tim (Dawn) Schelling, of Palmer Alaska, Brent (Lori) Schelling, of Alvordton, Ohio, Angie (Johnie Clark, Jr.) Walker, of Marion, Ohio, Randy (Angela) Luke, of Bryan, and Kathy Gies, of Toledo, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Ron Franks, of Crystal Falls, Michigan; her stepmother, Mary Franks, of Stryker; and her stepbrothers and sister, Bill and Jim Hildebrandt and Kathy Stein. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. in the Stryker United Methodist Church with Reverend Jim Ernst officiating. The family will receive visitors in the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Interment will be in Brown Cemetery near Bryan.
