Mary Lou Huffman Davis, age 82, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Davis was a 1953 graduate of Bryan High School, where she excelled in music, voice, swing band and marching band, playing the clarinet and saxophone. She was a lifelong resident of Bryan and Williams Center, except for time she spent in North Carolina while her husband was in the military. After he returned from active duty, she supported her husband in the Bryan Army Reserves, where she received several awards for her volunteer work. She was a member of William Center Asbury United Methodist Church, where she played the organ and piano for many years until the family transferred to Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan. Mary was a Center Township election poll worker for over forty years, a member of the Wesley Prayer Shawl and Baby Blanket group, making dozens of delivery blankets for the Bryan Hospital, Sarah’s House and the Pregnancy Center. She also had worked at The Aro Corporation for a number of years and was active in Girl Scouts with her daughters.
Mary Lou Huffman Davis was born on February 23, 1935, in Bryan, the daughter of Robert E. and Helen Marie (Castor) Huffman. She married her husband of sixty years, James L. Davis, on December 7, 1956, in Bryan, and he survives.
Survivors also include three daughters, Pamela Ann (Tim) Castor and Jill Nanette Miller, both of Bryan, and Julie Kaye Davis, of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Gregory Ryan (Christina) Castor, of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas Scott (Annalise) Castor, of Toledo, Ohio, and Kimberly Ann Miller and Rebecca Paige Miller, both of Bryan; one great-grandson, Davis Castor, of Columbus; one great-granddaughter, Rowan Rae Ledford, of Bryan; and one brother, David Jon (Eileen) Stough, of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Lee Huffman, in 2014.
Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Services celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 2, 2017, in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Reverend Jeffrey Motter officiating. Interment will be in Williams Center Cemetery.
