Billie M. Stewart, 81 years, of Bryan passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 in her residence. Billie was born April 4, 1935 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Glenn E. and Lola (Stuart) Carter. She was a 1953 graduate of New Hanover High School, Wilmington, North Carolina. She married William Frederick Stewart on January 22, 1954 in Conway, South Carolina, and he survives. Billie worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission as a Toll Collector for 17 years, retiring in 1995. Prior to this, she worked for Winzeler Stamping in the Bookkeeping Department. She was a member of the former Clay United Methodist Church, where she served as Secretary of the Administrative Board. After the church closed, Billie worshiped at the Bryan Alliance Church. She was a member of the United Turnpike Workers, Local 791 and served as Union Treasurer.
In addition to her husband, Bill, Billie is survived by two children, Tracey M. (Gary) Stumpp of Bridgewater, CT and Glenn E. Stewart of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jeffrey A. Stewart; one brother, Glenn Carter, Jr.; two sisters, Frances Hannah and Lottie Ferris.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan.
