Douglas A. Purdon, 56

Douglas A. Purdon, age 56, of Edon, St. Croix and Bryan, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton. Doug was a supervisor for the Ohio Turnpike for 17 years. He had worked at the Montpelier Police Department as a dispatcher, reserve, part-time and full-time office and the Williams County 911 center. He was in the first class of dispatchers at the 911 center and had the first save through the 911 system in Williams County. He was a former member of the Montpelier Moose and Edon Athletic Boosters. More than anything, he was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan!

Douglas A. Purdon was born September 23, 1960 in Angola, Indiana, the son of William W. and Laura M. (Dick) Purdon, Sr. He was a 1978 graduate of Edon High School and 1985 graduate of Defiance College.

Doug is survived by his brother, William Purdon, Jr, of Edon; sisters, Diana Harvey, of Bryan and Linda (Sam) Trent, of Bryan; 9 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia Ann Viers and Pamela Kelley, nephew, Todd Kelley and great niece, Amanda Schilt.

In accordance with Doug’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan has been entrusted with his arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Edon Athletic Boosters.
