Imigene R. Simmons, age 78, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 5:50 A.M. on Monday, April 24, 2017, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Simmons was a graduate of Montpelier High School and had been a lifelong area resident. She had worked at The Ohio Art Company for six years and then went on to be a self-employed day care provider for more than fifty years. She attended the First Brethren Church in Bryan where she was active in the small groups, working in the nursery and at funeral dinners and also enjoyed going to the Gospel Barn in Hillsdale, Michigan. For many years she was Brownie troop leader. Most of all she was a doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Imigene R. Simmons was born on October 7, 1938, in Henry County, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer and Beatrice (Durham) Steingass. She married Paul Simmons on June 15, 1957, in Bryan and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela (Stuart) Kammeyer and Paula (Tim) Manning, both of Bryan; five grandchildren, Paul (Dorothy) Kammeyer and Daniel Kammeyer, and Nicole (Rich) Matney, Brooke Manning and Trevor (and fianceé, Kristine Culler) Manning; three great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Chase Kammeyer, and Hailey Matney; and one brother, Paul (Ruth) Steingass, of Muskegon, Michigan. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Randy Simmons.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the Bryan First Brethren Church, with Pastor Brent Sloan officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
