Eugene R. “Bob” Burkholder, age 78, of Pettisville, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. Prior to his retirement in 1997, he had worked for Sauder Woodworking for many years.
Bob was born in Pettisville on May 25, 1938, the son of LaVerne and Dora (Miller) Burkholder. He was a longtime member of the Pine Grove Mennonite Church, near Stryker and transferred his membership to Central Mennonite Church last year because it was closer to his home. Bob had a great sense of humor! He loved woodworking, was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (John) Burton of Bowling Green, Julia (Mark) King of Wauseon; four grandchildren, Hannah, Owen, Jordan, and Aiden. He is also survived by one sister, Carol Heimbach of Selingsgrove, PA, and special friend, Arvada Rupp, and her children, Jeff (Christian) Wyse, Heidi (Mike) Seery and Steven (Sherry) Wyse. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bud Burkholder, and one sister, Marilyn Yoder.
Visitation for Bob will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Central Mennonite Church, rural Archbold. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, also at the church, with Pastor David Elkins, officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Pine Grove Mennonite Church or Central Mennonite Church.
