Victoria J. Speakman, age 70, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 10:18 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017, in her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Speakman was a 1965 graduate of Edgerton High School and had been a longtime owner/operator of Jigger’s Bar in Edgerton. She was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt mushrooms and was a member of the Angola Hawg Hunters bass fishing club. She also was an avid bowler for many years. Vicky loved being in the kitchen and making goodies for her family and also enjoyed her trips to the casino.
Victoria J. Speakman was born on March 16, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Edward W. and Phyllis L. (Watson) Bigger. She married James R. Speakman on July 3, 1965, in Edgerton and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2016.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie (Dan) Thiel, of Edgerton, and Denise (Jack) Arnold, of Butler, Indiana; one son, Allan Speakman, of Edgerton; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward A. Bigger, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Anthony A. (Brenda) Bigger, of Bryan, Ohio; and one sister, Nancy Thiel, of Auburn, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathleen M. Speakman, in 1968; and two brothers, Edward W. Bigger, Jr. and Jack E. Bigger.
Grave side services will be at held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
