Charles Ivan “Charlie” Potes, age 84, of Wauseon passed away Tuesday May 30, 2017 in his home. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for the S.E. Johnson Company as Superintendent. He had worked for them for 47 years. He had also worked for the former Lammons Garage in Wauseon.
Mr. Potes was born on September 13, 1932 in Lyons, Ohio the son of the late I. Charles and the late Martha (O’Connell) Potes. In 1955 he married the former Jean Clements and she preceded him in death in 1982, he then married the former Judy Hoffman in 1983 and she survives. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon. He was a US Army veteran having served from 1952-54. He was also a member of VFW Pot #7424 in Wauseon. His favorite pastime was golfing.
Surviving besides his wife , Judy are children Leegh (Mike) Wyse, Amy (Ted) Conklin, Adam (Lynn) Potes and Myra Potes McCrae. Also surviving are Judy’s children; Cindy (Chris) Weber and Alan Miller, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his parents and first wife were sisters, Arlene Seifert and Marion Mika Sullins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon with Pastor Mike Berne officiating. Interment will be in the Lyons Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-8:00pm on Friday at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Christ United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
