Ellen M. Sleesman, age 95, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 11:20 P.M. on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, where she was a resident. Mrs. Sleesman was a 1940 graduate of Edgerton High School, was a longtime employee of Syncro in Edgerton, and later was employed as a cook for St. Mary Catholic School for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society. Ellen was active at the Edgerton Senior Center and her greatest joy in life was attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren.
Ellen M. Sleesman was born on March 29, 1922, near Edgerton in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter Guy C. and Agnes A. (Goebel) Cape. She married Cleo Q. Sleesman on December 27, 1941, in Edgerton and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1994.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane (Robert) Bowsher, of Edgerton; a foster son, Ronald Bigger, of Auburn, Indiana; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Sherman (Rozella) Cape, Frank (Maralyn) Cape and Donald Cape, all of Edgerton. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, LuAnn Sleesman; two sisters, Rita Wuebben and Rose Mary Johnson; and three brothers, Kermit, Paul and Conrad Cape.
Visitation will be held on Thursday. June 8, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, Ohio. A rosary will be held on Thursday at 7:30 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Edgerton.
