Alfred Eugene (Al) Studer, age 81, of Coldwater, Michigan, and formerly of Edgerton Ohio, passed away at 1:00 A.M. on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Center in Montpelier, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. Alfred was a longtime resident of Edgerton and had moved to Coldwater in 1978, where he worked at Acorn Door and Window until his retirement. He loved to fish with his wife and brother, John, and was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Pistons.
Alfred Eugene (Al) Studer was born on May 31, 1932, near Edgerton, the son of Raymond John and Gertrude (Kimpel) Studer. He married his wife of fifty-nine years, Sarah A. Boylan, on February 25, 1954, in Edgerton and she survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Gertrude Studer, of Edgerton; one son, John M. (Rita) Studer, of Montpelier; three daughters, Carol (Donald) Miller, of Pioneer, Ohio, Pamela Studer-Hicks, of Jackson, Michigan, and Deborah Studer, of Napoleon, Ohio; three brothers, John F. Studer, of Coldwater, Michigan, R. George (LaVon) Studer, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Clair Studer, of Edgerton; two sisters, Margaret Claxton, of Edgerton; and Carol Buss, of Auburn, Indiana; one grandson, Eric Siebenaler, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Crystal Robbins, of Paris, Arkansas, Tiffany Miller, of Pioneer, and Michaela Studer, of Bryan; three great-grandsons, all of Paris, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and two nephews.
Grave side services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Cemetery Catholic Cemetery in Edgerton with Pastor Rob Studer officiating. Luncheon and fellowship will follow at the Eastland Baptist Church in Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
