Gonda Irene Shade, age 99, of Bryan, passed away of natural causes on April 15, 2018 at Genesis HealthCare – Bryan where she was a resident for one month. She was born in Evansport, Ohio on June 11, 1918, the daughter of Aubrey and Frances (Hall) Replogle. On September 22, 1939 she married Ralph Henry Shade and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2005. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Larry Ralph Shade, two sisters, Vivian Bernath and Mary Fleagle and one brother, Francis “Gene” Replogle.
Gonda is survived by one daughter, Debra (Lloyd) Towne of Bryan, one daughter-in-law, Kay Shade of Stryker, six grandchildren, Aaron Shade of Alvordton, Scott Shade of Defiance, Julie (Ben) Rosenbauer of Chillicothe, Sheri (Kirk) Davenport of Medina, Kristi (Michael) Fenicle of Wauseon and Kiki (Chad) Ritter of Ney as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
Gonda is a graduate of Stryker High School and attended the Evansport United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed sewing and spent many years as a seamstress creating dresses, bridesmaid gowns and any other item that her clientele might request. She and Ralph enjoyed fishing, antique cars, driving their 1954 Corvette and spent many years as “snowbirds” in Fort Meade, Florida. At the age of 50, they started playing golf and enjoyed playing in area golf leagues.
Visitation for family and close friends of Gonda Shade will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Graveside funeral services at Brown Cemetery will follow the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in loving memory of Gonda be given to the Bryan Senior Center. The services of the caring people of the
Bryan Senior Center helped Gonda to spend her senior years living at home.
