Disaster averted!
Jail doors at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio are now open again to all jurisdictions after being closed for two full days to Defiance County while five of the six jurisdictions have been asked to reduce their populations which exceed 90 percent.
he population peaked at 95.5 percent on Saturday. Jail doors were closed to Defiance County as its population stood at 110 percent on Saturday.
The City of Toledo at 99 percent as well as Lucas County at 97 percent were also asked to reduce their populations.
Around 2 p.m. on Monday, jail doors were opened to Defiance County as the overall jail population stood at 92 percent.
It was the fifth overcrowding emergency declared at CCNO during 2013.
