Jeanette A. Staten, 77

Jeanette A. Staten, age 77, of Montpelier, Ohio (Nettle Lake), passed away at 3:36 P.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, after an extended illness, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Staten was a graduate of Woodward High School in Toledo and most recently had worked at Meijer in Angola, Indiana, for more than ten years. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, she was also an avid sports fan, especially with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Detroit Tigers and Edon Bomber football. She especially loved her life on Nettle Lake and spending time with her children and their families.

Born on June 17, 1941, in Willard, Ohio, she was the daughter of Clarence and Viola (Miller) Hafner. She was a devoted wife, soulmate and first love to her husband, LeRoy “Junior” Staten, whom she married on October 31, 1959, in Toledo.

Survivors include her husband of nearly fifty-nine years, LeRoy; her children, Debra Grzymkowski, of Montpelier, Michael (Laurie) Staten, of Bowling Green, Ohio, Donna (Douglas) Davis, of Edon, Ohio, Mark (Kelley) Staten, of Toledo, Dawn (Robert) Dunbar, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Matthew (Joey) Staten, in North Carolina, and Scott (Hilary) Staten, of Edon; twenty grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; her beloved dog, Maggie; three sisters, Mary Lou Thacker, Martha Walters and Betty Hunt; and three brothers, Robert, Thomas and John Hafner. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Daniel and Leonard Hafner.

Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, on Monday, October 29, 2018, from 2:00-8:00 P.M., followed by recitation of the rosary at 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Blakeslee, Ohio, with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Edon Northwest Schools–Bomber football team or to the Angelman Foundation at Angelman.org.
