Loren Henry Onweller, age 96, of Wauseon, passed away Monday afternoon, November 5, 2018. Prior to his retirement he been a minister for the former Evangelical United Brethren Church for over 20 years, and had been a Special Education Teacher in numerous North-Central Ohio communities.
Loren was born in Fulton County, Ohio, on November 17, 1921, the son of Henry H. and Myrtle (Falor) Onweller. On June 20, 1948, he married Arlene May Olmstead, and she preceded him in death in 2015. He was a member of the Beulah United Methodist Church, the DAV, the Wauseon American Legion Post 265, and the VFW. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
Surviving are two sons, Victor Onweller of Kalamazoo, MI and Lester (Ruth) Onweller of Powell, OH; daughter, Anita (Wayne) Floyd of Bentonville, Arkansas. Also surviving are 3 granddaughters; brother, Elton Onweller of Wauseon. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brothers, Corwin Onweller and Ivan Onweller; and sister, Mary Bell Whitcomb.
Visitation for Loren will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Friday, November 9, 2018, at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Perry, officiating. Interment will follow in the Winameg Cemetery, with Military Rites being accorded by the Fulton County Honor Guard. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Fulton Manor in Wauseon, Beulah United Methodist Church, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
