Salvation Army Says Thank You

The folks at the kettle say this was a good holiday season. The Salvation Army red kettle campaign in Williams County brought in more than $10,000 this year, officials say it’s triple the amount raised in 2017. From Black Friday, through Dec. 22, 232 local volunteers spent 79 hours outside the Bryan Walmart, mostly on Friday evenings and Saturdays, ringing the bell and manning the bright red kettles. After a tally by State Bank, a total of $10,161.18 in donations was collected this year. In Williams County, the kettle campaign receipts fund homeless prevention, pay for summer camps for local school-aged children and provide emergency aid to help people avoid utility disconnection. Officials say thanks.
