Frederick Connolly, 74

Frederick D. Connolly, 74 years, of Bryan, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Genesis HealthCare – Bryan Center, Bryan where he was a resident.  Freddy was born February, 15, 1939, in Bryan, the son of the late Walter Levi and Ruth Naomi (Wonser) Connolly.  He was a 1957 graduate of Bryan High School.  Freddy was an Army veteran, enlisting for service on November 6, 1961.  He served as a draftsman until his discharge in November 1964.  He then went to work at Challenge Cook where he worked in the factory for 17 years.  Freddy finished his career at Chief Supermarket in Bryan where he worked until his stroke in 2009 forced him to retire.

Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim and Rex Connolly, longtime caretakers and dear friends, Melissa L. Ford-Votaw and Helen E. Shaw.  Freddy is survived by dear family friends and his lifelong caretakers, Patricia L. Shaw-Strup of Williamsburg, Virginia, Charlene B. Shaw-Heisler of Ney and Charlotte A. (Michael) Shaw-Uran of Bryan and their families.

Graveside funeral services for Frederick D. “Freddy” Connolly were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at Brown Cemetery, with Pastor Roger Blough officiating.  Military graveside rites were accorded by the Bryan VFW Post 2489.  Arrangements have been under the care and direction of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
