Jean L. Shaffer, 86, of Pioneer passed away Monday afternoon at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born on March 25, 1933 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to William Troy and Martha Willa (Ross) Morris.
Jean attended the Pioneer United Methodist Church. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary in Pioneer. Jean worked in retail in Bryan, as an aide at Evergreen Manor in Montpelier and Hillside Country Living in Bryan, a secretary at Throne Monument in Pioneer, and volunteered at the Pioneer VFW. She was also an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by her son Robert (Karen) Davis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jeff (Amanda) Davis, Jenna (Ryan) Tinney, Zachary (Nicole Nance) Davis and Melissa Dodson; seven great grandchildren, Izaac, Taylor, Johnathan, Brooklyn, Logan, Jasmine and Victoria.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Clarence Neil Davis, second husband Thomas Shaffer and daughter Jolynn Moore.
Visitation for Jean will be on Friday, September 13th from 4-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Graveside services will be on Monday, September 16th at 11am at Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport, West Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer American Legion Auxiliary or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
