Doris Marie Grim, 98 years, of Archbold, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Hillside Country Living, where she had been a resident the past month and a half. Doris was born January 9, 1921, on the family farm, in German Township, Fulton County, Ohio. The farm has been in her family since 1838. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Etta Mae (Smith) Taylor. She was a 1939 graduate of West Unity High School. Doris married Robert C. Grim on February 1, 1942, in Montpelier, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1971. A devoted wife and mother, Doris cared for all her family’s needs. After the death of her husband Robert, Doris worked at AA Poultry in West Unity, the former L & K Restaurant and Everhart’s Restaurant in Bryan. She was a member of the West Franklin Church of Christ, where she served as the church pianist for 50 years. She was also a member of the Williams County Historical Society. Doris loved history, the arts and music. She enjoyed traveling and was always seeking more knowledge, always learning. She treasured spending time with her family.
Surviving are her two children, Sharon Dean of Bryan and James (Lori) Grim of Bryan; six grandchildren, Kelly Dean, Clayton Grim, Robert (Victoria) Shaw, Lucas Grim, David Shaw and Angela Lyons; three great-grandchildren, Mercedes Lyons, Lexus Lyons and Kenneth Lyons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert; one daughter, Gwendolyn “Nadine” Grim; grandson, William Rex Wilson, Jr.; three brothers, Claire, Ralph and Harold Taylor; two sons-in-law, Kenneth Shaw and William Rex Wilson.
Funeral services for Doris Marie Grim will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 5, 2019 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity, with Pastor Kim Repp officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, until the start of services at Noon.
