Eloise M. Smith, 85, of Pioneer passed away early Friday morning at her home. She was born on February 4, 1935 in Pioneer to Layton and B. Elma (Hillard) Eidenier. Eloise graduated from Pioneer High School in 1953. On June 14, 1975 she married Dana D. Smith in rural Pioneer and he survives.
In 2000, after 29 years Eloise retired from Robinair Manufacturing in Montpelier. She was a former cafeteria worker at North Central Schools for 10 years and a kitchen worker at the Williams County General Hospital.
She is survived by one daughter Teresa M. Clark of Terre Haute, Indiana; two step daughters, one step son; two grandchildren, Rhiannon McKinley and Alex Bingman; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Noah McKinley; three step grandchildren; siblings Eleanor Bexten of Pioneer and Evelyn Deetz of Pioneer; and sister in law Donna Eidenier of Pioneer.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Tina Clark on August 30, 1964, brother Ernest Eidenier, and brothers-in-law Tony Bexten and Bob Deetz.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation at the time. A Celebration of Life for Eloise will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer. Memorial contributions may be made to CHP Hospice or Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
