Leo F. Thomas, 89

Leo F. Thomas, age 89, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 5:09 P.M. on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, where he was a patient after an extended illness. Mr. Thomas was a 1949 graduate of Edgerton High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1952-1954, with a year in Korea as clerk at X Corp Headquarters. He had been employed at Pet Milk for fifteen years and the Ohio Turnpike and then was an insurance agent for twenty-five years with Nationwide Insurance. He was a member of the Edgerton Rotary Club, serving as secretary for more than twenty years, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion, of which he was a Life Member. Leo also enjoyed organizing his class of 1949 class reunions and loved being scorekeeper for Edgerton High School boys basketball for many years. He and his wife, Ruth, wintered in Florida, where he was past president of the Coach Light Manor Association, their mobile home park. On October 17, 2018, Leo was privileged to be a part of the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Leo F. Thomas was born on May 15, 1931, near Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Donald and Eva (Meyer) Thomas. He married Ruth A. McClure on August 17, 1951, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Barbara A. (Jef Frame) Thomas, of Bryan; his son-in-law, Richard (Kristine) Hubert, of Bryan; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cathy J. Hubert; a brother, Leon Thomas; a sister, Anna McClure; and his beloved dog, Winston.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at 3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Larry Snavely officiating. Interment will follow in Yackee Cemetery near Bryan with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion and the United States Army Honor Guard.

Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, recommended social distancing and occupancy for the funeral home will be observed. The wearing of masks is encouraged.
