Rev. Ronald D. McClure, 70 years, of rural Stryker, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Ron was born October 6, 1943 in Defiance, the son of the late Rev. Darl B. and Elnora Alice (Taft) McClure. He was a 1961 graduate of Defiance High School. He married Jody M. Howell on November 17, 1984 in Bryan, and she preceded him in death on September 3, 2009. Ron was employed by General Motors in Defiance for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Ron was also a Minister, and had preached at churches in Continental, Bryan and Stryker. He was the former owner of Clean As New Carpet Cleaners. He also drove bus and worked as a maintenance man at the former Living Word Christian School, which is now Fountain City Christian School. He was the founder of R & J Ministries in Bryan. He was a member of Restoration Tabernacle in Defiance as well as an Elder with Morris Cerullo World Evangelism. Ron also took several mission trips to the Philippines and China. Ron was always involved in Ministry as an Evangelist and Minister of Music. Ron also had a heart at helping others. When he did have some time, Ron enjoyed golfing, watching sports, especially basketball, spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s academic and athletic events.
Surviving is his son, Christopher (Mary) McClure of Paulding; two grandchildren, Grayson and Chloe; two brothers, Melvin (Barbara) McClure of Olathe, Kansas and Doug McClure of Kansas City, Kansas; one sister, Anita C. “Sherry” (Sam) Bradley of Portsmouth, Ohio; his former wife, Dianna (Etter) McClure. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jody and one sister, Karin Lemaster.
Visitation for Rev. Ronald D. McClure will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services for Rev. Ronald D. McClure will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Restoration Tabernacle, 9119 Christy Road, Defiance with Pastor Janet Strickland officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
