Jessie D. Day, age 80, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Day attended Cooney School and graduated from Edon High School in 1950. She worked in the secretarial pool at The Aro Corporation for several years and later at Edgerton Local Schools and at Day’s Furniture with her husband, Karlen, for many years. Her faith, family and friends were the center of her life and she and her husband founded Trinity Bible Church and Victory Barn Church in Edgerton. Throughout the years she was a supporter of the Edgerton community’s numerous school functions, attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren, and supporting the youth of Edgerton, as well as being a leader of Bible studies in the community. Her home had an open door policy to all.
Jessie D. Day was born on October 3, 1933, in Northwest Township, Ohio, near Nettle Lake, the daughter of Clyde and Zelma (Waltz) Payne. She married Karlen E. Day on June 6, 1954, in Edgerton, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2001.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Michelle) Day, of Edgerton, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy Day, of Navasota, Texas, and Connie (Joe) Grieser, of Stryker, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jordan (Heather), Joshua, and Caleb Day and Brett (Ashlie), Chase, and Andi Grieser; four great-grandchildren, Jonie, Thayn, Cole and Cylas Day; and three sisters, Peggy Miller and Patricia Lord, of Montpelier, and Carolyn (Lewis) Arnold, of Edon. She was also was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Jacob Day, and one sister, Joyce Krill.
Services for Jessie D. Day will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinity Bible Church, Edgerton, with Pastor Dennis Kutzner officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton.
