AquaBounty Wins

The chief of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources issues approval of a Water Withdrawal and Consumptive Use Permit Application from AquaBounty Farms…for a proposed water well field near Pioneer. AquaBounty proposes a 479,000-square-foot facility in Pioneer to raise commercial genetically modified salmon, with an initial withdrawal from the local aquifer of 3 million gallons per day. The proposal has drawn local criticism, with the ODNR logging nearly 1,200 comments against it…versus about a dozen in favor of the project…all this…during a 30-day public comment period, earlier this year.
