Richard W. “Dick” Wann, 78, of Hicksville, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville. Dick was born August 21, 1943, in Hicksville, Ohio, son of the late Herman and Carolyn (Singleton) Wann. He was a 1960 graduate of Harlan High School. He served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge. Dick married Karen Sue Countermon on August 17, 1965, and she preceded him in death on November 1, 2018. He worked at General Electric until his retirement in 1997. Richard then worked as a car retriever for Noah Yoder Ford and Jim Schmidt Automotive. He was a member of Cornerstone Church, Hicksville and formerly a member of Newville Church of Christ, Newville, Indiana. Dick was a man of faith and could often be found reading his Bible. He was also a member of the Hicksville Masonic Lodge. In his free time, Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors: camping and fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by two children, Penny (Jason) Miller of Hicksville, Ohio, and Jeff Wann of Hicksville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Mary (Bradley Crowl) Miller, Paul Miller, Leona Miller, and Wayne Miller all of Hicksville, Ohio; brother, Ron (Joan) Wann of Butler, Indiana; two sisters, Gloria Wann of Auburn, Indiana, and Marsha Hamric of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Visitation for Dick will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 232 West Arthur Street, Hicksville, Ohio. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the church with Pastor AJ Swanson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville.
