Robert “Bob” E. Peters, 84, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Vancrest of Hicksville. Bob was born October 31, 1937, in Milford Township, Defiance County, Ohio, son of the late Willard and Nilo (Zuber) Peters. He was a 1955 graduate of Farmer High School, and held the single game scoring record for Farmer High School, scoring 31 points against Sherwood during his senior year. Bob was also member of the 1954 Indiana State Junior Federation State Baseball team, playing second base. Bob married Judith D. Mickelson on June 1, 1958, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville, and she preceded him in death on August 2, 2019. Bob and Judith were the first couple married in the church. Bob worked at International Harvester/ Navistar in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and West Chicago, Illinois, for 38 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, he worked with his daughter at Jodee’s Video in Hicksville for 23 years. Bob was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville, the Hicksville Eagles Aerie #2556, and Pond-A-River Golf Club. With a passion for baseball, Bob coached the Hicksville Bank Little League baseball team. In his free time, Bob enjoyed golfing, harness racing, tending to his lawn, and rooting on the Ohio State Buckeye football and basketball teams, and the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.
Bob is survived by his two children, son Scott and daughter Jodee, both of Hicksville, Ohio; four brothers, Earl (Marilyn) Peters of Antwerp, Ohio, Larry (Anita) Peters of Akron, Ohio, LaMar (Sharon) Peters of Cleveland, and Bill (Trudy) Peters of Edgerton, Ohio. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife, Judy.
Funeral Services for Robert “Bob” E. Peters will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 2:30 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, with Celebrant Patricia Peter officiating. Private interment will take place in Scipio Cemetery, Harlan, Indiana.
