Betty S. Laney, 75

Betty S. Laney, 75, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, in her residence.  Betty was born January 14, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter of the late Bedford and Matilda (Kingery) Dubree, Sr.  She attended Harry Wood High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Betty married George M. Laney, Sr. on February 15, 1987, in Ney, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2021.  Betty was a homemaker, supporting her family in any and every way that she could.  In her younger years, Betty attended the Oakwood Church of Christ.  Betty will fondly be remembered for her love of both people and food, and enjoyed her weekly Wednesday Taco Night trips with her friends from the Biker Club.  In her free time, she enjoyed listening to Blue Grass, shopping, eating out, and spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by two children, Paul (Michelle) Duckwall of Talmadge, Ohio, and Susan (Ronald) Berndt of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two stepsons, George Laney, Jr. Spencerville, Indiana, and Nick Laney of Camden, Michigan; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann (Rod) Caldwell of Van Wert, Ohio, and Frances Brinkman of Continental, Ohio; two brothers, Junior (Carol) Dubree of Bryan, Ohio, and Terry Dubree of Palm Springs, California; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, George M. Laney, Sr.; and one brother, Michael Dubree.

Visitation for Betty S. Laney will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville.  Funeral services for Betty will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Steve Eyers officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
