Trudy Sharon Kirk, 69

Trudy S. Kirk, 69 years of Butler, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 13, 2023, in her residence.  Trudy was born March 5, 1954, in Lackey, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Hiatt and Helen (Bradley) Chaffins.  Trudy was a 1972 graduate of Garrett High School, Garrett, Kentucky, and continued her education at Eastern Kentucky University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in 1976.  Trudy married Larry D. Kirk on September 27, 1989, in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2008.  Trudy worked for Kirk Materials where she was the office manager for 20 years, retiring in 2002.  She was a member of the Butler American Legion.  Trudy enjoyed gardening, she had a “Green Thumb” and could grow anything, drawing, going to Arizona for the winter and horseback riding.  She had a great sense of humor and could make you laugh all the time.

 Surviving are her 8 siblings, Deborah (Charles) Kaduk of Auburn, Indiana, Charlotte Fogel of Wolcottville, Indiana, Vada (D.J.) Dangler of Angola, Indiana, Burneda Howard of Hindman, Kentucky, Betty Reed of Auburn, Indiana, and Johnny Chaffins of Lexington, Kentucky.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; four brothers, David Chaffins, Larry Chaffins, Clinton Chaffins and Jerry Chaffins.

 To honor Trudy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hamilton, Indiana.

 Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
