Bryan Electric officials review 2023 with the Bryan Board of Public Affairs and noted that on Dec. 23 and 24, 2022, PJM, the regional transmission organization that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in Bryan’s region, called for maximum generation capacity. That meant PJM called for generation of electricity be made using any fuel available. The call was made due to the extreme cold weather on the night of Dec. 23, 2022, and through Dec. 24. The event positively impacted the city’s transmission peak savings in 2023. They added that the Auglaize hydro plant didn’t produce as much due to the river being low that time of year, and the solar field produced no energy because the event occurred at night.
