First ballots of 2024 general election must be mailed by Sept. 20 to overseas and active military voters.

By law, the first ballots of the 2024 general election must be mailed by Sept. 20 to overseas and active military voters. Ohio elections officials would like to have all the material a week ahead of time to prepare those ballots. That’s Sept. 13 — this Friday, three days from now. One big problem: They are missing a crucial piece of that needed ballot information. Because of a battle over ballot language in state Issue 1 — the redistricting revamp submitted by the group Citizens Not Politicians — elections staffers worry about a crunch to meet the deadline.
