The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single commercial vehicle crash in the city of Findlay. The crash occurred Wednesday near mile post 161 on Interstate 75 in Hancock County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Volvo VNL, driven by 40-year-old Khaled Saleh, of Dearborn Michigan, was traveling north bound on Interstate 75, when the commercial vehicle had an equipment failure. The commercial vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a concrete wall. The commercial vehicle caught on fire as it traveled against the concrete wall before stopping under the County Road 99
overpass.
Saleh was able to get out of the vehicle and did not sustain any injuries, and he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. As a result of the crash, the commercial vehicle became fully engulfed with flames. Findlay Fire Department arrived on scene, and eventually put out the fire. Interstate 75 northbound was closed for several hours, but has since reopened. The far-right lane of Interstate 75 on the northbound side will remain closed until the roadway and bridge can be properly assessed for damage by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
