Frank Hettesheimer, 92

Frank S. Hettesheimer, 92 years, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Glenn Park Assisted Living, Defiance. The son of the late Harvey L. and Mabel (Bancroft) Hettesheimer, he was born October 25, 1921 in Toledo.  Frank was a WWII Navy veteran, spending a major portion of his service time on the USS Salt Lake City.  He married Irene M. Schikora on May 9, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2011.  Frank was a Tool & Die maker, working for Sheridan Manufacturing in Wauseon, retiring in 1985 after 36 years of service.  He was a member of the Robinson-Gibbs American Legion Post #265 and the Wauseon VFW Post #7424.  He was an avid hunter, a gun enthusiast and enjoyed riding his many motorcycles that he had over the years. He was proficient in Judo.  He could be found with his wife Irene at area polka dances, where they enjoyed friends, music and dancing.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Lynn) Casler of Casa Grande, Arizona and Janet Von Deylen of Sherwood, Ohio; four grandchildren, Scott (Cindy) Casler, David (Rhonda) Casler, Laura Pollick and Steve Von Deylen; three great-grandchildren, Neil Casler, Jason Casler and Aidan Pollick.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irene and three sisters, Irene Collins, Marie Lankey and Ruby Beckman Brown.

Visitation for Frank S. Hettesheimer will be held Monday, June 16, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.  Funeral services for Mr. Hettesheimer will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 with Pastor Mark Holbrook officiating.  Interment will follow in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, Ohio with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Robinson-Gibbs American Legion Post #265.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
