Holgate Is The Latest Municipality To Increase Water Deposit

In Holgate, the deposit folks pay for their water service is increasing.

Holgate Village Council listened to a landlord, who was seeking a solution to being left responsible for a tenants’ overdue water bills and fees. They then decided that it might be a good idea to increase the water deposit to provide a better payment buffer in such cases.

By a 4–1 vote, the deposit was raised from $150 to $250, which village officials hope goes a long way toward preventing similar problems in the future.
