The Bryan Water Department has begun replacing the water main on Parkview Avenue. The department is upgrading the existing 4-inch cast iron pipe to 8-inch main in the 600 to 800 blocks of Parkview Ave. They will also replace the existing fire hydrant and add another one.
According to the department, the project is part of the progression of work on the west side to replace all the old 4-inch
water mains.
The BMU water crew closed the street and started saw cutting the pavement on July 11. They tapped into the 8-inch main on Avenue A and laid the first section of new pipe on Monday, and say they will continue working east to Lebanon Street in the first phase of the project.
The project is broken into two phases to accommodate the Ohio Little League State Championship that will be held at Garver Park at the end of this month. Following the tournament, the crew will begin phase two from Lebanon to Blakeslee Avenue. They expect to finish the first phase in three weeks and the second phase by early September.
In all, the water department will install 986 feet of new water main, new water services to 15 homes, 15 new meters, and two new fire hydrants. Cost of the project is estimated to be about $162,000. Once completed, they say the residents will have better reliability and fire protection.
