Are you a customer of Farmers and Merchants State Bank? If so, you should be on the alert for a potential scam, in which bank customers have been getting automated phone calls, in which they are told that their debit or credit card accounts have been locked. The customer is then asked for personal account information.
According to the Bryan Times, the folks at Farmers and Merchants Bank say the calls are becoming more frequent.
The bank also says the calls are a scam, but they stress that that there has not been a data breach of any kind.
If you get one of those calls, you should just hang up, and then call the authorities to report it. Do not give out any information. Bank policy prohibits them from calling and asking for that information over the phone.
