Kenny Traxler, 69

Kendall N. “Kenny” Traxler, 69 years, of West Unity, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at his residence.  Kenny was born May 24, 1945 in Bryan, Ohio, the son of the late Lauren and Francile (Clark) Traxler.  He was a 1963 graduate of North Central High School.  Kenny was an Air Force veteran.  He married Carol Anne Bly on May 4, 1968 and she preceded him in death on October 13, 1985.  Kenny then married Martha A. Thompson on May 15, 1987, and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2014.  Kenny was employed as a truck driver for Preston Trucking where he worked for 30 years.  He then worked for Sauder Woodworking for 11 years, retiring in 2010.  Kenny was a member of the West Unity American Legion Post 669 and the NRA.  He served as Santa Claus for many years in the Village of West Unity annual Santa Parade.  He was an avid firearms enthusiast and enjoyed golfing and having coffee each morning with the gang at the restaurant.  He found a great friend and companion with his dog, JoJo.

Surviving are his children, Amy Ryan of West Unity, John (Andrea) Traxler of Perrysburg and Shannon Traxler of Tampa, Florida; stepchildren, Heather (Ben) Puehler of Wauseon and David (Michelle) Barnes also of Wauseon; 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; one brother, Lowell (Carolyn) Traxler of Kunkle, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Olive Bly of Dunedin, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his parents and both his wives, Carol and Martha.

Visitation for Kendall N. “Kenny” Traxler will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity.  Private graveside committal services will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 in Floral Grove Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the West Unity American Legion Post 669.  Memorial Services will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the West Unity United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Grieser officiating.
