William L. “Uncle Willy” Haynes, age 85, of West Unity, Ohio, died at 11:50 P.M. on Sunday, November 2, 2014, in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Haynes was employed for many years at the feed mills in West Unity, Fayette, Montpelier and Tedrow, worked at Hayes-Albion Corporation until the plant closed, and worked for Sauder Woodworking in Archbold until retirement. In retirement, he worked part-time at Schmidt’s Produce until recently. He retired from the Alvordton Millcreek Township Fire Department in 2012 with sixty-four years of service to the community. He was a Life member of Whitetails Unlimited, was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and was a NASCAR fan, rooting for Dale Earnhart,Sr. and Dale Earnhart, Jr. to the very end.
William L. Haynes was born on February 18, 1929, in West Unity, Ohio, the son of Lloyd and Luella (Clark) Haynes. He married his wife of sixty-six years, Joyce Marie Page, on February 14, 1948, in Angola, Indiana, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Smith, of West Unity, and Melody Kay (Tim) Price, of Bryan; one son, Billy Joe (Lisa) Haynes, of Alvordton; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Babcock, of Bryan; and a special daughter, Bonnie Burnham Saneda, of West Unity. He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and seven sisters .
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will follow at 1:30 P.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Van Arsdalen officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.
