Lucille Beck, 89

Lucille Ruth (Johnson) Beck, age 89, passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014 at Hillside Country Living. Prior to her moving to Hillside in 2009, she had been a lifelong Stryker resident. Prior to her retirement she had worked for the Hayes Albion 50 Corporation, Beck’s Restaurant and Johnson’s Electric and Plumbing.

Mrs. Beck was born in Stryker on April 15, 1925 the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie (Gentit) Johnson. She was a 1943 graduate of Stryker High School. On October 1, 1944 she married Stanley Beck in Atlanta, GA and he preceded her in death. She was active in her church, First Lutheran Church in Stryker where her memberships included the Altar Guild and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Preceding her in death besides her husband, Stanley were two brothers; Wilfred “Jack” (Irene) Johnson, Robert Johnson and sister; Florence (Waldo) Nafziger.

She treasured her family which include two sons; Douglas (Betty) Beck and Daniel (Dorothy) Beck both of Stryker, She was a wonderful grandma to Stephanie (Todd) Schmucker, Kelly (Ben) Krupa, Melanie (Todd) Wyse, Katie Beck, Kevin Beck and four great-grandchildren; Tate, Malachi, Natalie and Gabriella. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday December 20, 2014 at the First Lutheran Church in Stryker with Pastor Dane Meuschke officiating. Interment will follow in the Stryker Cemetery. Friends may call at First Lutheran Church on Friday from 4:00-8:00pm. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Lutheran Church.
