Luther M. Reinking, age 90, of Wauseon passed away late Friday January 16, 2015 at The Lutheran Home in Napoleon. Prior to his retirement he had been a lifelong area farmer and had also worked in security for the Campbell Soup Company for more than 25 years.
Mr. Reinking was born on July 23, 1924 in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio the son of the late Herbert and the late Ida (Schroeder) Reinking. He married the former Bertha Wolf and she preceded him in death in 1984. He then married Doris Lohse in 1987 and she preceded him in death in 2013. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of rural Stryker. He was also a US Army veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific Theater. In 2012 he was honored to be selected to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to view the World War Two Memorial.
Surviving are children; Bev (Jim) Lingvai, Paula (Bill) Cathcart, Mark Reinking, Kathy (Jerry) Koppenhofer, Natalie (Mark) Weinhardt and Dean (Diane) Reinking. Also surviving is step-son; Dave (Toni) Lohse, 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his parents and wives was step-son; Mike Lohse and brother Robert Reinking.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday January 20, 2015 at the St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffrey Corder officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 2:00-8:00pm. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the St. John Lutheran Church Stained Glass Fund or Henry County Hospice.
