Clarence Shearer, 95

Clarence Shearer, 95 years, of Bryan, passed away early Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.  Clarence was born March 31, 1919 in Virden, Illinois, the son of the late Jacob and Stella (Roesch) Shearer.  In 1929 they moved near Pioneer.  He graduated from Pioneer High School in 1937, then attended International Business College in Fort Wayne.  He married LaMoyle Hendricks on Christmas Eve 1940 by Rev. Hendricks, father of the bride.  Clarence was a partner in Bryan Sheet Metal in the early 1950’s until starting Shearer Plumbing and Heating in 1955.  He retired in 2008 at the age of 88.

Clarence was a member of Lick Creek Church of the Brethren where he served in various positions: Chairman of the Board, Church Treasurer, Building Committee, Stewards Commission, Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.  He also served on the Board of Directors at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, LaMoyle and his brother Sterling.  Surviving are his two daughters Trudy (Bill) Peters of Edgerton and Dr. Tamara Shearer and Ted Rowe of Whittier, North Carolina; one son, Glenn (Becky) Shearer of Bryan; four granddaughters, Dr. Amanda (Ken) MacFarlane and Dr. Melissa (Rob) Kidder both of Worthington, Ohio, Dr. Mary Beth (Mike) Burton of Bryan and Lauren (Jeff) Hurtig of Edgerton; 11 great-grandchildren, Tim, Chris and Elizabeth MacFarlane, Alaina and Paul Kidder all of Worthington, Ohio, Macy, Max, Myles and Marcus Burton of Bryan and Silvia and Harper Hurtig of Edgerton; also special friend Catherine Choske of Tecumseh, Michigan.

Visitation for Clarence Shearer will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Lick Creek Church of the Brethren, 1500 Center Street, Bryan.  Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the church with Pastors Dorothy Ritchey Moore and Dr. Nancy Berkheiser officiating.
