Marie M. Appel, age 85, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:15 P.M. on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, where she was a resident. Mrs. Appel was a 1947 graduate of Edgerton High School and a lifelong member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Edgerton, where she was active in the Ladies Aid, Sunshine Committee and Altar Club, and was a member of the County Cousins. She also volunteered for many years at both Bryan and Hicksville Hospitals.
Marie M. Appel was born on September 16, 1929, near Edgerton, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Susanna (Mathis) Huth. She married Richard L. Appel on January 1, 1957, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2000.
Survivors include three sons, Duane R. Appel, Dennis A. Appel, and Dale E. (Teresa) Appel, all of Edgerton; one daughter, Carol S. (Gregg) Garman, of Grabill, Indiana; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Iris Knisley, of Edgerton, and Freida Shepard, of Owensboro, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Henry Huth, Jr., one sister, Ruby Bok, and a daughter-in-law, Lolita Appel.
Services for Marie M. Appel will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Edgerton, Ohio, with Reverend Kurt Letcher officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 12, 2015.
